If you've ever travelled south down Morningside Road then you may have noticed this view of Buckstone Snab (the hill behind the steeple) and, further left on the ridge, the higher ground of Braid Hill. Pictured here is the view from Braid Hill looking back to the north. Cluny Parish Church Centre is the steeple in the left hand foreground. Safeway's roof car park is a little further away on the right. At the top of Morningside Road is Church Hill and Holy Corner.

Haar is, of course, what we call this mist that drifts off the sea when we get an east wind. This picture is of Blackford Hill looking towards West Savile Terrace.
Braid Hills Drive 16
1152 x 864
336K
Further east along Braid Hills Drive but looking back to the north west. Beyond the wrecked rusty fence can be seen Blackford Hill and the Royal Observatory. The gorse-free area in front of it is Blackford Hill Quarry (Disused), filled in with rubbish and a layer of topsoil then grassed over.
Liberton Tower Turkeys
1152 x 864

Christmas dinners on legs. At least these poor beasts are free range, if slightly muddy. The Royal Observatory is at the other side of Blackford Glen.
Braid Hills Drive View
1761 x 864
297K
Past the tree-lined Howe Dean path is this view of south east Edinburgh. At the bottom of the slope to the left is Blackford Glen Road leading to the junction with Liberton Brae. Craigmillar court and Peffermill Court stand to the left of the hill with Craigmillar Castle on top. The white tower in the centre of the Picture is Liberton Fire Station at Kirk Brae. The housing estate beyond is The Inch.
Buckstone
1024 x 768
153K
Buckstone housing development / project / scheme. It nestles / lurks to the south of Buckstone Snab and is thus deprived of good TV reception from the Craigkelly transmitter. This is a fairly up-market area where you can enjoy the sounds of the 'burbs, e.g. blackbirds and rotating electrical machinery.
Dreghorn / Torphin
1024 x 768
163K
The green copper roofs of the houses in the Oxgangs Farm area stand out in this photo taken from Buckstone Snab. Torduff reservoir is hidden in the valley in front of Torphin Hill.
Braid-Ox-Bonaly
1024 x 768
123K
This telephoto shot is from Blackford Hill. Bonaly district and country park are visible behind the Oxgangs tower blocks. The trees in the foreground are in Blackford Glen.
Oxgangs
1024 x 768
181K
Capelaw Court, Allermuir Court and Caerketton Court stand on the flood plain of the Braid Burn, about 1 Kilometre west of Buckstone Snab, the vantage point for this picture.
Braid - Oxgangs
1024 x 768
178K
The steep footpath leads up from Braid Road just south of its junction with Riselaw Crescent. The multi-storey flats at Oxgangs are visible in the distance on the left, standing next to Colinton Mains Park on the Braid Burn's floodplain. Craiglockhart Hill is on the right.
Greenbank - Saughton
1152 x 864
281K
Photographed from the western end of Braid Hill. The detached bungalows in the foreground border Greenbank Road behind which are the buildings of the former City Hospital. It closed in 2000 to become private housing. Glenlockhart Road separates the houses from Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Course at the foot of Easter Craiglockhart Hill. H M Prison (Saughton) looks deceptively close in this long-lens shot.
Greenbank Burbs
1024 x 768
232K
Same vantage point as the two previous pictures but this time looking west across the Braidburn Valley Park to the detached bungalows of Greenbank.
Braidburn

At the north end of the park facing south towards the Pentland Hills. The Braid Burn is on the left of the footpath.
