In the middle distance is Threipmuir Reservoir. Further away on the
southern shores of the Firth of Forth can be seen the island of Inchkeith,
the white building of the Chancelot flour mill at Leith's West Harbour,
Edinburgh Castle and Salisbury Crags. |

closer. A windmill farm can be seen on top of the Moorfoot Hills.
If we must have these then this is the ideal place for them. The Moorfoot
hills are not recommended for hill-walkers, especially those who depend
on public transport. Also there's a lot of grouse moor and precious
little else. |

On East Cairn Hill's plateau now, again
facing south east. We can see North Esk Reservoir through a gap in
the dry stane dyke. The vegetation on the surface consists of heather,
cotton-grass and Cloudberries. |
