December sunshine accentuates the surface textures and reveals sheep dotted about a bare field, possibly dining on turnips.

Fluffy white clouds drift across a hazy blue sky. Far to the east lie Craigmillar and Musselburgh, barely discernible to the left of Caerketton Hill.

Looking up at the scree slope and the summit of Caerketton Hill (452M). This is the most visible of the Pentland Hills standing quite near to the city. The ski slope is often illuminated at night and, seen from Edinburgh, resembles a very steep street. See T Woods 2. Four people are standing on the ridge near the summit.

The higher of the two peaks (452M) is the eastern one shown here with the small cairn on top. This point is visible from most of Edinburgh. The top of the artificial ski-slope is halfway down the hill and a bit further east.
