Two of the best shops in this splendid street,
namely the Rolling Stone Gallery at 42 and The Brush Shop at 40. The
former specialises in surreal art from Poland and the latter specialises
in, yes you've guessed it, brushes. |

A couple of doors down at number 46 is the
Pine & Old Lace shop. Pause and marvel at the craftsmanship of

Up above Victoria Street is Victoria Terrace
which leads in turn to Upper Bow. This cobbled cul de sac leads up
to the Lawnmarket. At the bottom, set into the church building is
this charming little house. |

In the foreground, sloping rooves reminiscent
of Holland. A corner of George Heriot's school can be seen, as well
as the chimney of the Royal Infirmary at Lauriston Place. In the distance
are the Pentland Hills. |

The railing at the right hand side is at the very end of Victoria

Photographed from the esplanade of Edinburgh
Castle is this Grassmarket hotel. George Heriot's school can be seen
in the middle distance on the left, with the squat clock tower of
the infirmary partially hidden behind it. |

Looking over the top of Johnston Terrace and
the buildings of the Grassmarket towards the symmetrical red sandstone
building of Edinburgh College of Art. In the distance are the Pentland

Braid Hill. |
