The West Port is the street which runs east
from Bread Street down into the Grassmarket behind Edinburgh Castle.
The topof the hill has become the home of pubs featuring rock music
and strippers.
A similar view to the previous picture but photographed more recently with a Fuji Z1 5Mpixel camera at about 35mm equivalent focal length. Main Point is the name of the junction of High Riggs, East Fountainbridge, Bread Street, West Port and Lauriston Street.
A worm's eye view from the corner above, looking
the opposite way towards another ugly erection. It no longer seems
to be occupied by civil servants, and is advertised for let.
Looking out of this close at the other (east)
end of the Grassmarket. To the right of the white building, Victoria
Street curves its way upthe hill to George IV Bridge and Victoria
Terrace.
