A battered keep-left sign stands in
the middle of the bend in the road. South College Street is behind,
long since disconnected from Lothian Street. A pedestrian underpass
connects Charles Street and West College Street.
Countless paths cross this area of Arthur's
Seat which is becoming ever more popular amongst visitors and locals.
Many of the footpaths further up the hill have been repaired to counter
erosion.
If you don't want to climb the hill
or walk the crags then this is an easy walk between the St Leonard's
/ Newington area and the Holyrood / Meadowbank area.
Facing directly up the slope towards
the crags. Walkers can be seen on the paths up above. Skylarks nest
on the slopes - yes, ground-nesting birds in the heart of the city!
These little birds hover overhead, their songs like Jimi Hendrix
riffs.
