A short time-exposure captures the wet cobbles in St Leonard's Street. The street on the right is Montague Street (thanks to Adam Marshall for confirming this).

Not a good photo - but it illustrates the difference between this picture from c.1967 and 1999 (below) with trees!

Not far from Causewayside. is St Patrick Square, next to the Odeon Cinema. This picture is of the east side, part of the main road. Edinburgh Bargain Store occupies this site in 1999, twenty years after I took this photo.

The only changes in this street since the early '70s are the cursory coating of tarmac and the trees which have since sprouted. High up in the distance are Salisbury Crags and the Radical Road.

A telephoto view of part of the crags thrown into sharp relief by the November 2000 sunshine. Parts of Radical Road and Queen's Drive are visible.

It's fairly obvious that 'Wash House' was deemed politically incorrect and subsequently changed to 'Laundry'. It hardly mattered anyway; this was actually a second-hand furniture and junk emporium for a while.

Nowadays there's rented houses built here, if I'm not mistaken. This is in Causewayside near the lane into Blackwood Crescent.
