Annandale
St
Mosque

The first of two brick buildings that
caught my eye in Annandale Street. This mosque has had an excellent
paint job, enhanced by bright sunshine and the deep blue sky. |

St
Bus Garage

Traditional red bricks and the glass
dome make this building unusual in Edinburgh. Lothian Buses were formerly
known as LRT (Lothian Regional Transport). Prior to that they were
called Edinburgh Corporation Transport. |

Fire
Brigade HQ

201K |
Lothian
& Borders Fire Brigade still have their head quarters at Lauriston
Place but no active fire engines are based there. The commerative
plaque in this photo states that Central Fire Brigade Station was
opened in June 1900 by Lord Provost Sir Mitchell Thomson. |

Morrison
Street carpark
1280 x 851
215K |
The colony houses off Dalry road are overlooked
by this quiet corner of the car and lorry park. The houses in the
middle distance on the right are much newer and are on the other
side of Dalry Road, overlooking the railway line. |

Haymarket
Bear

A bear walks along Dalry Road towards Haymarket
and apparently considers having a haircut. |

Dalry Road

Looking west towards the Gorgie area. The former railway bridge in the distance carries the Western
Approach Road over Dalry Road. Maplin electronics caters for electronics
and computer enthusiasts, and across the road is Silicon, the cut-price
computer shop. The girl in the foreground has just seen her hat blow
across the road into the traffic. |

Royal Circus 00

There may be as many as eight of these signs, a
welcome sight to any tradesmen looking for houses in this circular
street bisected by Circus Place. |
 |
Royal Circus 05
1152 x 864
331K |
The northerly corner of NW Circus Place and Royal
Circus. In this photo you can see almost a quarter of the circle
as well as some attractive basements. |

Royal Circus 06

Taken from the same corner as the previous picture.
The cobbled road is looking good in the sunshine. Pedestrians get
advance warning of approaching traffic because of tyre noise. |
