This is in the High Street near the World's End pub and the Museum of Childhood, opposite John Knox's house. Originally a cinema, it was McGoo's in the 1960's when I saw The Who perform there.

Part of Edinburgh's Royal Mile, guarded by a traffic warden. The pavements are considerably narrower and the road wider than today, not nearly so pedestrian-friendly. This part is between the Tron and St Giles.

Taken Jan2000 from the steps leading down from High School Yards into the Cowgate. Saint Mary's Street leads up the hill to the left, the short distance to the crossroads formed by it, the High Street, Jeffrey Street and the Canongate.

Once east of St Mary's Street and the Pleasance, the Cowgate becomes Holyrood Rood. The next few pictures are all taken from here.
