In the foreground on the right, a former school is now university accomodation at the top of Bruntsfield Links. The Royal Infirmary's clock tower and the domes of Old College and McEwan Hall are prominent features, with the Firth of Forth and North Sea as a backdrop. The Isle of May is on the horizon, 55 kilometres away. | |

Blackford Observatory is 2.5 kilometres from the steeple at Holy Corner but looks much nearer through a long lens. A couple can be seen strolling up the hill. | |

This part of South Morningside slopes fairly steeply up to the rim of the wooded Braid Valley. At the far side is Braid Hills Drive which leads from Comiston to Liberton. Braid Hill and Buckstone Snab overlook the scene, with part of Hillend from the Pentland Hills visible at the top right corner. | |
