The next
5 photos were shot with a 2 second exposure with the camera mounted
on a tripod. Three double decker buses are pulling away from the
bus stop just past the Kings Theatre. The first one has smeared
its lights and highlights across the image, creating interesting
patterns. |

|
A simple,
less cluttered image. White Van Man has left a ghostly image of
his van but his headlights have traced out two cylinders of white
light which hover above the road surface. |
 |
|
Looking
across the Tollcross junction we can see the red trails of tail-lights
left by cars travelling up Home Street and Leven Street towards
Barclay Church. |
 |
|
In this
shot a cycle courier waits at the traffic lights at Earl Grey Street
while a bus whizzes round the corner into Lauriston Place, painting
light patterns across the picture. |

|
This picture
was taken from the corner of Festival Square and shows the rush-hour
traffic which mostly isn't moving very much. Some of the cars headed
towards Princes Street have left red trails. |
 |
|
A one
second exposure of the traffic rounding the corner in front of the
Bank of Scotland Head Office at the top of The Mound. No tripod
was used but the camera was placed on top of railings to keep it
steady. The highlights from a hubcap have traced diagonal patterns
on the left of the image. |
 |
|
Night
time roadworks at Holy Corner. Flashing yellow lights on the passing
JCB vehicle have traced out several dashed lines as it passed by
during an 8 second exposure. |
 |
|
In this
shot a vehicle has moved from right to left. As well as tracing
patterns, its flashing lights have illuminated a passing pedestrian
on the top left of the picture. The strobe effect has made several
ghost images of this person walking along the pavement. |

The final
photograph in this sequence of three shows two vehicles, a tipper
lorry and an asphalt spreader. Two workmen remained stationary during
the exposure and can be seen through the ghostly image of the lorry. |
