Almond
Viaduct 1280 x 802 155K |
Most of the 1970s black & white negatives here were first scanned at the turn of the century on a Nikon Coolscan. Five and a half years later, I'm scanning all my negatives again, this time on an Epson 4180 flatbed/film scanner at 1200DPI and editing them down to screen size (more pixels than in 1999/2000). |

Facing south across the River Almond. That's me, standing in the shadows. |

This picture also features yours truly in 1977. A vertical format version is 577 x 768 and 81K. |

There's two vehicles visible on the underpass this time, one of which was mine. It's a Ford Escort estate car in the livery of Comet Radiovision Services. |

I prefer this vertical composition as it's more aesthetically pleasing - to my eye at least. I scanned the negative again in 2005 to provide a better quality image. |

More foreground detail in this picture, hence the larger filesize. Possibly my favourite shot of this sequence. |
| M9 1024 x 475 178K |
Another personal favourite. Taken on a hot summer's day using infrared film and a long lens with a red filter. Yes, I parked on the hard shoulder and set up my tripod - but the roads were somewhat less busy in the seventies.

This shot features a half-timbered car, a Morris 1000 estate car if I'm not mistaken...

The Pentland Hills are on the horizon. Up ahead, where the motorway intersects that line of trees, the road passes under the road from Winchburgh to Kirkliston, just west of Winchburgh. |
