Looking east along the main Pentland ridge. From right to left the hills recede into the distance towards Flotterstone as follows: Green Law, Cap Law, South Black Hill, West Kip, Scald Law, Carnethy Hill, Turnhouse Hill. On the left is the boggy area called Kitchen Moss, then Hare Hill and Black Hill.

The same view as above but zoomed in closer. A windmill farm can be seen on top of the Moorfoot Hills. If we must have these then this is the ideal place for them. The Moorfoot hills are not recommended for hill-walkers, especially those who depend on public transport. Also there's a lot of grouse moor and precious little else.

On East Cairn Hill's plateau now, again facing south east. We can see North Esk Reservoir through a gap in the dry stane dyke. The vegetation on the surface consists of heather, cotton-grass and Cloudberries.

As seen from far away Castlelaw. The sun caught these strange markings on the lower slopes and I photographed this long lens shot from 17 miles away.
