Torphin is the greenish hill in the left middle distance. The three blocks of flats are at Sighthill and are due to be demolished. Both Forth Bridges are visible in the haze at the top of the picture, behind the airport. |

The path passes this small disused quarry as it follows the western boundary of properties beside the A702 which winds its way up the slopes of the of the Pentland Hills' eastern end. |

Zooming back a little reveals the upmarket housing project built on the grounds of the former Princess Margaret Rose Hospital. A fence separates the houses from the trees on the ridge. Only 55M of trees separates these Margaret Rose streets from Galachlawside and other streets at Buckstone. |

If you bear right over the shoulder of the hill then you'll join this track which winds north west and leads up to the main path between Caerketton and Allermuir. A fairly direct descent takes you to Swanston from here. |
