Edinburgh College of Art - old library, Grassmarket - August 2006. The first of a few photos showing how it looked back then, shortly before the library was relocated. The first 10 photos were taken by Dave.

All the remaining pictures are by Jane from Evolution House (not Intelligent Design House) and depict art (as you'd expect in an Art College Library) though not in the style you might expect. Three pictures of artistic light switches... |

Working in an Art College Library must be inspirational. Here, one of the workers has felt inspired to create this unique sculpture from BluTak.

Looking down to the corner of West Port and Lady Lawson Street. Lady Lawson Street was for many years the home of Lawson's timber merchant and DIY store. Just out of sight to the left is home to lap-dancing bars.

Photographed by Jane Henniker but it was I who added the cubist dimension to the floor. There weren't actually any cubic holes.

A mixture of contrasting architecture.

Not for exclusive use of library patrons, the general public can come in for a snack or a coffee. There is a view out to Lady Lawson Street.

Our doormat was feloniously appropriated along with these other ones from Edinburgh stairs. If your doormat went walkabout, then blame Kevin Harman who has formed this alleged work of art at Edinburgh Art College. [Kevin Harman - Artist statement. My work deals with the raw strength of objects. The objects I use seem to be extensions of power, instruments that cause ..] Kevin's website currently states: The site will be active again on the 18th of December after the court date. Video of 'window art'. |
At the other end of the Art College Library Café you'll find this piece of electronic art, complete with innovative word structure. ;o)
