Go down to the Grassmarket and turn east and you'll be in the Cowgate. One single arch of George IV Bridge is visible looming overhead in this picture. There's another arch at Merchant Street - but most are hidden.

This steep street leads down from Hunter Square to the Cowgate. The lower levels of these buildings have vaults which may connect with Niddry Street at the east side of South Bridge.
