These photographs may be of interest to fellow Hennikers in Scotland and England as well as overseas. I previously scanned one or two pictures but this time I scanned the pages complete with my grandmother's notes. | |

This is my father's mother, Katie Henniker with her younger son Brian in Ramsgate in Kent photographed in August 1926. | |

Thanks to Margaret West (née Riches) I now know that Thomas Riches (her father) is on the right and her Aunt Charlotte is in the centre. | |

The pencilled notes say Lottie at Java but I have no further information. My father had an Auntie Lottie - probably Katie's sister... Thanks again to Margaret for the following: "This is in Java - my grandparents, Charlotte Nellie (your great aunt), Hendricus Koolhoven (at the time a head schoolmaster in the Dutch East Indies), Charlotte, Pip and my Dad. The family returned to the UK when my father was about 11 I think. I remember my father had cousins Norman and Pauline and I'm sure we went to see them in the 50's when visiting my grandparents when they lived in Broadstairs (they later moved back to Ramsgate). Dennis died in 1945 in the war. My aunt Pip traced the ancestors on a family tree which starts in 1086, and is detailed from 1623. On this your father's name is spelled Allan. Had Pip been alive today she would be amazed at the connections to be made via the internet (as we all are I guess). She undertook years of research, travelling the country and searching parish records. Well, I hope you don't mind me emailing you. Talk about one degree of separation !!!!
