Looking east along the Union Canal from the Dumbryden Road bridge, just north of Tesco. The original construction didn't have the advantage of plastic sheets to keep the water in. |

Canal
0908a 1280 x 869 299K |
A cyclist heads east towards the city. It can be a bit risky cycling under some of the bridges as the surface is often still cobbled there. Most cyclists will ping their bell when going under bridges as a warning to other cyclists and walkers. |

Canal

The view a few yards further west. Wester Hailes is looking much nicer these days since the canal was reinstated. |

Corstorphine
Road 00 1152 x 864 310K |
Double red lines means don't even consider the possibility of stopping here for a millisecond. This is the main road into the city centre from Edinburgh Airport, as well as the west and north of Scotland. |

Corstorphine
Road 04 1152 x 864 232K |
Another view of the interaction of red paint and the metal grating over a drain - or siver (sp?) to use the Scots vernacular. These two photos taken not far from Murrayfield Rugby Ground and Murrayfield Ice Rink. |

The beginning of a mid-week afternoon session and there's nobody on the ice yet.
![]() |
Easter school holidays and the ice rink is quite busy at the 2.30pm session. More skating related stuff here.

Ice Rink 14 1280 x 960 297K |
If you've paid to hire skates or a locker then the end of this corridor is where to go. The floor is covered with rubber so it's not necessary to have skate guards on your skates. |
