The railway line passes below Slateford Road here. Steps lead down to Wardlaw Terrace. The brick building is the Caledonian brewery, the source of India Pale Ale and the darker beer, 80 shilling.

Looking down onto the Water of Leith and the railway viaduct from the Union Canal aqueduct. This section of the walkway had only recently been finished.

This is Hailesland Road as seen from the footbridge. As far as I can tell, this road is built on top of the Union Canal, shortly to be reinstated hereabouts.

Just north of Kingsknowe Crescent, the Union Canal passes below the railway line. A short distance further west, the canal is blocked by Kingsnowe Road, next to the level crossing.
