This image seems to me to resemble a college professor singing karaoke. |

A battered keep-left sign stands in the middle of the bend in the road. South College Street is behind, long since disconnected from Lothian Street. A pedestrian underpass connects Charles Street and West College Street. |

It's not every day you see a smartly dressed rabbit sitting on a chair in a shop window. |

Just across the road from Napiers and in front of the McEwan Hall is this paved area much favoured by skateboarders. |

Hunter's
Bog 1152 x 864 283K |
Countless paths cross this area of Arthur's Seat which is becoming ever more popular amongst visitors and locals. Many of the footpaths further up the hill have been repaired to counter erosion. |

If you don't want to climb the hill or walk the crags then this is an easy walk between the St Leonard's / Newington area and the Holyrood / Meadowbank area.

This wider view shows the sloping slab of lava whose uppermost edge forms Salisbury Crags. A volcanic intrusion between layers of sedimentary rock.
![]() |
Facing directly up the slope towards the crags. Walkers can be seen on the paths up above. Skylarks nest on the slopes - yes, ground-nesting birds in the heart of the city! These little birds hover overhead, their songs like Jimi Hendrix riffs.

Looking south along the lower path, with Arthur's Seat on the left and the crags at the top of the slope on the right.

Zooming in reveals some walkers in the distance. |
