A short time-exposure captures the wet cobbles in St Leonard's Street. The street on the right is Montague Street (thanks to Adam Marshall for confirming this). |

St
Leonard's 7 1024 x 553 129K |
Not a good photo - but it illustrates the difference between this picture from c.1967 and 1999 (below) with trees! |
| St
Leonard's 1999 1024 x 768 208K |
Looking west across The Meadows from the top of Salisbury Crags. The white tent was used in the 1999 Edinburgh Festival. For comparison see a 1967 view (above) from the Radical Road. | |

St
Patrick Square 1024 x 696 240K |
Not far from Causewayside. is St Patrick Square, next to the Odeon Cinema. This picture is of the east side, part of the main road. Edinburgh Bargain Store occupies this site in 1999, twenty years after I took this photo. |

Bowmont
Place 810 x 1024 256K |
The only changes in this street since the early '70s are the cursory coating of tarmac and the trees which have since sprouted. High up in the distance are Salisbury Crags and the Radical Road. |

Crags
from Arthur's Seat 1024 x 768 195K |
A telephoto view of part of the crags thrown into sharp relief by the November 2000 sunshine. Parts of Radical Road and Queen's Drive are visible. |

Steamie 452 x 768 92K |
It's fairly obvious that 'Wash House' was
deemed politically incorrect and subsequently changed to 'Laundry'. It
hardly mattered anyway; this was actually a second-hand furniture and
junk emporium for a while. Nowadays there's rented houses built here, if I'm not mistaken. This is in Causewayside near the lane into Blackwood Crescent. |
