Built in 1859 by Professor John Donaldson with funds bequeathed by Reid, this building was once a state-of-the-art teaching facility. The auditorium, the Music Classroom, continues to be used as a lecture theatre and is also used for public concerts, with the organ being the finest of its kind in Britain. The museum was part of Donaldson’s original plan and is now the earliest surviving purpose built musical museum in the world – containing the largest collection of historical musical instruments in Scotland. |

One of the main purposes of Torchwood is to assess the potential application of alien technology for humanity's use, and this was Toshiko's job. She also has a keen understanding of practical physics, which makes her useful as a field agent for selling tasty food.

Previous pages have documented some of the transient artwork which adorns this site. Thankfully it's not all just illegible, stylised text - some actual pictures do appear periodically.

It's just gone noon and sunshine streams in the south facing windows from South College Street, backlighting the busts in the book bays. |

Personal connections with this area are: My one-time workplace Ross Television overlooked this spot, also the street on the right (Gifford Park) is my preferred route if inline skating from Melville Drive to the Innocent Railway Tunnel. There's pedestrian access to Clerk Street opposite Rankeillor Street at the top of the cul-de-sac. |
