	Castle Exit 620 x 768 160K	"Way Out" says the sign which points vertically downwards... Taken inside Edinburgh Castle in the 1970s when admission was free.
	Blair St 1 1024 x 682 137K	Previously featured as a scanned print, but the scanned negative is higher quality. These enamelled signs have long since disappeared, but will be remembered by many.
	Blair St 2 1280 x 801 323K	Waverley Cameron and their enamelled signs advertising pens. There was also a metal merchant nearby who sold nuts, bolts, screws and sheet metal. Photo updated - negative rescanned 2005.
	Castle Wynd 403 x 600 67K	I believe houses were subsequently built where the left wall is in this photo. The steps lead from Grassmarket to Johnson Terrace. There is a rescanned, larger version of this picture here in Grassmarket page 11 as well as 3 other views of Castle Wynd South.
	Close 530 x 768 80K	I think it's Advocate's Close which leads from the foot of Cockburn Street up to the High Street. A wide angle 24mm lens was used for this and many other images.
	Arcade 602 x 768 115K	Cockburn Street Arcade before years of neglect made the ceiling rather less attractive than it appears here.
	Arcade Dome 2003 1024 x 768 149K	About 30 years have elapsed since the previous photo. The interior of the dome has been renovated with concealed lighting.
	Edinburgh Castle Rock Abseiling Repairers 5 2006 681 x 1024 261K	Natural erosion caused some loose rock to fall onto Johnston Terrace at the south side of Edinburgh Castle. In June this year a specialist team abseiled down the rock face, doing repairs. This first picture was taken from King's Stables Road.
	Edinburgh Castle Rock Abseiling Repairers 6 2006 681 x 1024 317K	Johnston Terrace was closed to traffic and pedestrians but it was possible to get closer to the workers near the top of the steps leading up from the junction of King's Stables Road and Grassmarket.
	Edinburgh Castle Rock Abseiling Repairers 7 2006 917 x 1024 298K	Zooming in reveals details of their tools and equipment. The bearded man supervises as his colleague removes the plant life from the rock face. The red flowers look nice but their roots could help open up cracks in the rock.
	Edinburgh Castle Rock Abseiling Repairers 8 2006 681 x 1024 261K	This last shot in the sequence shows the top of the rock and the bottom of the castle. The abseilers' ropes have protective yellow sleeves to protect them from abrasion by jagged rocks where necessary.
	Edinburgh Castle 9 669 x 1024 199K	An odd juxtaposition of old and new. The aerial walkway leads to the top of the seating area for the Edinburgh Military Tattoo on the castle esplanade.
	Edinburgh Castle 10 1280 x 851 305K	Here are 3 of the workers either dismantling or reassembling the seating. There was some kind of contractual issue which delayed or cancelled its normal removal after the 2005 Edinburgh International Festival.
