Aberlady Bay Views, Gullane Bay

	Aberlady Ed view 1152 x 864 220K	A beautiful, desolate landscape, just begging to be photographed. If you walk from the wooden foot-bridge near the nature reserve carpark, then this is your first good look at the seashore and the view beyond, across Aberlady Bay towards the Pentland Hills and Arthur's Seat.
	Aberlady Ed view 01 1152 x 864 215K	Further east along the shore is this similar view, but with the foreground dramatically changed. Fine dry sand is being blown across damp sand. The camera is zoomed in slightly to reveal more of the Pentland Hills, Arthur's Seat and Edinburgh.
	Aberlady Ed view 03 1152 x 864 112K	At the far end of the first bay, still looking back west. The strong west wind is blowing low, broken cloud rapidly along. The light is constantly changing. The low tide reveals a vast expanse of sand, soon to be covered again.
	Gullane Bay 00 1152 x 864 137K	Further east at Gullane, the wind-blown wet beach reflects the sky. On top of the cliffs can be seen concrete blocks left since WW2, designed to repel German tanks or landing craft.
	EL Ed view 1152 x 864 108K	Further east still, nearer Yellowcraigs. The sky is looking quite dramatic with heavy clouds looming across. The hills to the south of Edinburgh are illuminated by shafts of faint sunshine. The distinctive profile of Arthur's Seat is plainly visible, as is Edinburgh Castle. The sea's surface is whipped up by the wind.
	Aberlady Bay (March 2002) 1152 x 864 151K	Sunnier weather. The tide is out exposing lots of sandy beach. Beyond the breakwater, on the left horizon, the familiar outline of the Pentland Hills and Arthur's Seat can be seen.
	Aberlady Bay jl 1152 x 864 106K	Low water mark and little waves lap gently against the beach. The blue sky is complemented by the the line of clouds lingering over the Fife hills.

	Winged Insect 1280 x 956 329K	This little creature was floundering in a rock pool until I plucked it from the surface and set it down on a rock to dry out its wings.
	Aberlady Bay to Edinburgh 1280 x 772 265K	Edinburgh's familiar skyline can clearly be made out in this view across the waves.
	Aberlady Bay to Arthur's Seat 1280 x 827 250K	Arthur's Seat's profile is obvious on the right of the picture. The hill on the left is Torphin at the other side of Edinburgh.
