This is a picture of the top of the steeple, as photographed from our window by Jane. Church Factor David Peacock is accompanied by some members of the Christ Church congregation, including two octogenarians.
Looking NNE towards Edinburgh Castle sitting on its volcanic plug. Down below is Bruntsfield Place, the main A702 road. On its left where the road curves to the right is the junction with Merchiston Place and Montpelier Park. Howies, a Post Office and a bank are clustered together here.

Holy Corner junction. The A702 changes its name to Morningside Road here as it heads south from the junction with Colinton Road on the right. The church building on the left is the Eric Liddell Centre. Immediately below is another bank. At the top of the picture stands Church Hill Theatre.

This time I raised the lens into the sun to see all of Morningside Road. It's not readily apparent from this height, but the road ascends to Church Hill before descending all the way down to Morningside Station. The white box-shaped building is part of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. The Pentland Hills are in the distance.
Chamberlain Road

This street heads directly east from Holy corner. On the right, partially obscured by one of the scaffold's planks, is the southern end of the Eric Liddell Centre. Directly below is the Church of Scotland Morningside United at 15 Chamberlain Road. This road leads through leafy suburbs to Strathearn Place and the Grange.
Like the second image above but with the camera panned slightly to the right to show Salisbury Crags and part of Arthur's Seat. Parallel to the main road is Bruntsfield Gardens which connects to Forbes Road, further east.
Merchiston Park

This tree-lined street leads NNW from Merchiston Place to Granville Terrace. The building in the steeple's shadow is used by students. Parallel to Merchiston Park are, on its left - Merchiston Avenue, and on its right - Montpelier Park.
Looking south down Morningside Road, showing some scaffolding in the foreground. From left to right, the hills in the distance are Blackford Hill, Braid Hill and the Pentland Hills. The nearby steeple belongs to Morningside Baptist Church at 10 Morningside Road.
